“From Zero to LinkedIn Hero” – A Durham College Partnership “Sold Out” Event
An amazing Event!
On February 9th, the Uxbridge Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Durham College and Leslie Hughes of Punch!media put on a LinkedIn Training Seminar for Durham College students.
“From Zero to LinkedIn Hero” was a working lunch designed to be highly interactive and engaging, with plenty of opportunities for students to ask questions and get feedback.
And let me tell you, I wish my college teachers were all like Leslie! She is a great teacher – animated, captivating and a LinkedIn Specialist. Social Media is her passion. She’s written profiles for CEOs and Executives from Fortune 500 companies to local business owners needing that edge on the LinkedIn platform. She also is the author of “Create. Connect. Convert.”
There were over 140 students in the room all ready to raise their profiles on LinkedIn and with Leslie’s knowledge and insights, that’s exactly what they did.
Some of the areas covered in the training course included:
- How LinkedIn works and why it’s the most useful tool for your career.
- The 3 Key Areas you MUST complete on your profile for a strong first impression.
- Top tips for LinkedIn etiquette and how to make connections.
- The best way to build thought leadership and stay top-of-mind to obtain more opportunities.
So many great ways of how to take an idea and put it in words to social media to get noticed by potentential new employer.
The guests included Don Lovisa, President of Durham College; Dr. Elaine Popp, Executive VP Academic, and Ian Ellis, Prof of Durham College. Also in attendance from the Uxbridge Chamber of Commerce was our Emcee, Rick Nihda, Senior Executive Marketing Consultant at Durham Radio Inc. and Mike Duhamel, President, Media Gone Mad who was the videographer for this event.
The students had lots of questions and were completely immersed in Leslie’s 90 minute presentation. Also a big Thank You! for a great lunch served from the DCEats catering.
Here are a few of the highlights of the day below in the video. Thanks so much to Mike Duhamel from Media Gone Mad for his amazing work!
The feedback from the students and faculty attending was immediate: “When can we do the next LinkedIn Training Session?”
We’d love to do it again, and are looking to book a date in early November. Stay in touch to get the latest updates, and hope to see you all again soon!
Meanwhile, you can download “The LinkedIn Workbook” that Leslie and her team at Punch!media have put together for these training events. Just fill in the blanks and rise to the top of LinkedIn!
